After much thought and debate, I’m going to be moving from 1&1 to godaddy for my hosting needs. This was a really tough decision, and I’m paid up with 1&1 through May. However at the end of the day it’s just not acceptible the amount of time that my site is inaccessible and the frequency with which I lose connection to the email servers.
Godaddy offers a plan which is very comparable to my current one, but with twice the throughput. This will be really important in a month or so as I am going to self-host a bludomain template based flash website, and also move my image galleries off of Smugmug and onto my own server, using RedCart or PickPik instead.
So if this blog disappears for a few days, it’s because of the transition. I’ve never moved a database driven site before from one host to another so this will definantly be a learning experience! Hopefully a good one!
