I just received the notification that I have been accepted into the Greener Photography organization. This is an organization dedicated to the advancement of Green principles among professional photographers. I am proud that my small changes have been enough to warrant acceptance with this organization. In an effort to be “greener”, I offer products from companies that use green methodologies. For example, Finao, one of the album vendors I use ships by UPS ground by default. This small change means that it takes me 3 days longer to receive the album, but much less fuel is used and fewer emissions are put into the atmosphere as a result.
Photography today is greener than ever. Gone are the days of disposable film canisters and harsh development processes. On the other hand, powerful computers are now an integral part of the business. Without the computer, the image recorded by the camera cannot be viewed, manipulated or even printed.
