Today I was priveledged to be asked to take a few photos at a cermony held at the Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown, PA as Panera Bread donated over $7,000 to the zoo. If you live in the area, come down and visit the zoo – it’s a small community zoo but the facilities are very nice. Here are two pictures that will be used for publicity.
I have been watching the rapid rise on popularity of the LinkedIn social networking site. after many “connection” requests from old friends and associates, I noticed a common theme: very few people actually have headshots to use on their “profile”. I guess it’s obvious that a picture that is fine for a facebook picture is probably not the same picture that one would want to use for a professional networking site.
Given the current economy and the very difficult job market, I decided that I will offer free headshots for use on social networking sites. This offer is good through the end of March, 2010. Today I got to spend some time with Denise and BJ to capture some engagement shots in Philadelphia. Denise is originally from the area and just loved shooting inside the Kimmel Center. BJ is from the Bronx and felt right at home in the alleyways and the stoops nearby. This was a really fun couple and they held up like champs even though is was very cold and windy outside. I can’t wait to shoot their wedding!
Today was very cloudy but very bright up at the rooftop garden at the Kimmel Center. So I decided to play around and got a really nice silouette against the Kimmel Center’s cool roofline.
As we wandered around inside the Kimmel Center’s main concourse area, we found this really cool couch and wall. Denise made herself right at home.
After we wrapped up inside the Kimmel Center, we braved the cold and found this cool stoop to take a few pictures on. BJ said it reminded him of home mixed in with a little history.

After such a wonderful wedding season, I just couldn’t help myself and needed to make a little video with some of my favorite images. Here’s the long version, about 3:36 or so done using a new tool I’ve been experimenting with called Animoto. Check it out and definantly let me know what you think!

So it looks like the PhotogShootout group is really getting some momentum this year! On Monday I joined about 50 or so other photographers down in Newark, Delaware at the University of Delaware old campus for some fun shooting, laughing and networking. Special thanks to Gloss Salon for doing the model’s hair and makeup, water ice and the yellow Prowler shown in some of these images!
